About Us
Councilman Joel Ansh
Joel has been a member of the Franklin Lakes Council since 2023, serving as the liaison to various departments, including Recreation and Parks, Public Safety, the Department of Public Works (DPW), Environment and Community Affairs, and the Library.
During his first term, Joel has been a strong advocate for recreational programs and facilities. He successfully renegotiated Franklin Lakes' cell tower lease, resulting in an annual revenue increase of $104,000. Additionally, he generated $530,000 in fees from developers using our sewage infrastructure for their projects in neighboring towns.
Recently, Joel opposed state legislation that aimed to remove zoning control from local governments. He also negotiated a state-mandated low-income housing development, limiting its impact on our community and protecting our quality of life.
Joel and his family have been residents of Franklin Lakes since 2007. He and his wife have raised two children in the area, both of whom attended the local public schools and participated in recreational programs. Joel has been an active parent volunteer and fundraiser for schools in the town. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Hartford.
Michael Kazimir
Mike is well-acquainted with elected office, having served three terms as a Committeeman, representing the residents of Rochelle Park for nearly ten years. He also held the position of Mayor for two terms.
During his time in office, Mike acted as a liaison to all town departments and served as commissioner for both the Police and Fire Departments. He was a strong supporter of volunteer emergency services and recreational programs, fought against oversized developments, and successfully negotiated two favorable contracts for the police and Department of Public Works (DPW). Additionally, he addressed issues related to flood insurance coverage and control measures, all while keeping taxes in Rochelle Park among the lowest in Bergen County.
In 2021, Mike and his family moved to Franklin Lakes. He and his wife have two children attending public elementary school, and both children are active in recreation and scouting.
Mike also volunteers as a softball coach for recreational softball in Franklin Lakes. He holds a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and is a New Jersey State Certified Public Manager.
